Cross-border trade
training in Copenhagen, Denmark
The realisation of the critical
mass power system interconnection in the Eastern Africa
region by 2012 requires putting in place a trade
Coordination Centre (CC) and a regional Independent
Regulatory Body (IRB) in order to
facilitate regional power trade.
A key element of the in these
projects is training of staff intended to build the
capacity of the identified core staff of EAPP CC and the
IRB, EAPP secretariat staff and EAPP sub-committees and
member countries with a view to enabling efficient
running of EAPP’s CC and the IRB.

The first batch of 20

Copenhagen Denmark in the month on June 2011
The training deals with the transfer of know how/techniques
pertinent to the power pool design and operations.
A
consortium consisting of Energinet.dk (lead
partner) and Ea
Energy Analyses has been charged with the training
task.
In total 60-66 persons will partake in the
training.
Key training outputs:
- The EAPP CC will have the capacity by 2012 for
monitoring bi-lateral trading, operating the data
base, coordinating investments, and implementing the
Regional System Master Plan.
- The IRB shall have capacity by 2012 for
implementing and harmonizing elaborated regional
regulatory guidelines.
Cross-border trade
training in Cairo, Egypt (September 2011)
As part of the continuation in providing technical
assistance and training on Cross border trade to
EAPP, Energinet.dk is holding the second batch of
training in Cairo, Egypt. The training is slated to take
1 month.

trade training in Nairobi Kenya (October 2011)
In the final part of providing technical assistance
and training on Cross border trade to EAPP, Energinet.dk
is holding the last batch of training to EAPP delegates
in Nairobi Kenya. The Training will take
approximately 1 month.
